History
Founded in South San Francisco in 1998, Aero Logistics quickly established a reputation as a leader in handling expedited freight and 'white glove' inside deliveries. After building a loyal base of customers and growing at an average rate of over 50% per year, the founders sold in 2003 to a couple of recent Stanford business school grads, John Fowler and Josh Greenberg.

Under the new management team, the company grew over five-fold by following a simple rule: stopping at nothing to take care of their customers.

Aero has remained focused on its strengths and resisted the urge to “become all things to all people”. We would rather remain a premier, high-service provider in our niches than grow too fast and sacrifice our commitment to service.

Three additional offices have been opened since 2003: in Phoenix, Arizona; Laredo, Texas; and Lexington, North Carolina. The addition of each of these offices has substantially strengthened our team and our ability to provide top notch service to our customers.

In August of 2007, Aero was acquired by Horizon Lines, the country's leading Jones Act container shipping company. Aero operates as a stand alone entity focusing on providing fanatical customer service and stopping at nothing to get a job done. Horizon will continue to invest in Aero to support its strategic initiatives.

Management
Aero Logistics is led by its CEO, Wenda Thompson. Having joined the company in 2005, she sets the growth strategy that drives the company. Working from the South San Francisco office, she is passionate about building a great team and a corporate culture focused solely on the customer. She brings a fresh, outsider's perspective to the business and is committed to a level of innovation and operational excellence that is unparalleled in the transportation industry.

Prior to joining Aero Logistics, Wenda built a track record of remarkable success in a high-growth corporate environment.

At video gaming retailer FuncoLand (later Gamestop) she rose rapidly from store-level salesperson to become General Manager of four corporate departments. As a manager, she built high performing teams and drove the company's hyper-growth phase, which included growing the online division over ten-fold. She also worked at DHL's corporate headquarters in Germany. Wenda received her B. S. in Finance and Entrepreneurial Management from the University of Minnesota and her M.B.A. at the Stanford Graduate School of Business.
